Technobiography

Ever since I was a little kid I can remember technology being a part of my life. My earliest memories of technology probably render back to when I got my first boom box. I remember when I was in elementary school I would turn my radio on and dance to the newest "pop" songs from the 90's. I also remember using cassette tapes to try to record songs that I really liked. I remember playing various video games on the original Nintendo and Sega with my older brother, as well. As technology advanced, I can recall my parents purchasing our first desktop computer. I loved exploring the different capabilities and enjoyed being able to play different games such as The Oregon Trail and Duke Nukem.

As I got older, technology kept advancing. When I got my driver's liscence my first car did not have a CD player in it. However, I was able to put in a cassette tape that had a wire which attached to a portable discman and was able to play CD's through that. Now, my car has a six disc CD changer. I remember getting my first cell phone that didn't have many features on it - it was stictly used for making phone calls and writing the occassional text message. It's amazing to me that now you can use a cell phone for just about anything - a music player, a place to check emails, games, downloads, and various apps that can be used on the iPhone.

In high school and now especially in college a computer was and is an essential part of completing assignments. I would never be able to survive one day in college without a computer. Technology plays such a huge role in our society today and it keeps prevailing. The first thing I do in the morning is check my email. I have my cell phone on me at all times, as do many people, and cannot see myself making it through the day without using technology.
